Enhancing Safety, Comfort, and Efficiency for Proned Patients
Improving critical care
What is the BathMat?
The BathMat is a groundbreaking inflatable repositioning device designed to transform the care of critically ill patients in the prone position.
Each year, over 16,500 patients in the NHS alone require repositioning in this manner, consuming over half a million staff hours.
The BathMat simplifies what was once a labour-intensive and challenging process, making it safer and more efficient for both patients and healthcare providers.
Innovative Design
Patent Pending
The Bath Mat is composed of a control unit and a multi-vessel inflatable mat that is placed under patients in the prone position. The two devices are connected via pneumatic tubing. The control unit is mains powered and features an array of buttons that can be used to inflate and deflate chambers within the inflatable mat. The pressurised air input to the control until is delivered from the pressure line on ICU via a hose assembly and connectors.
THE NEXT GENERATION OF HEALTHCARE
Why chose the BathMat?
The ‘BathMat’ inflatable prone repositioning device aims to make care safer for proned patients on Intensive Care. We are performing our first-in-patient trial to investigate the following factors.
Enhanced patient comfort
Enables precise, controlled repositioning, minimising snagged lines ensuring patients can be effectively moved. More frequent repositioning reduces the likelihood of pressure sore generation during proning.
Streamlined repositioning
Designed to reduce the number of staff required for repositioning from 5–7 to just 2, while aiming to make the process significantly faster (to less than 10 minutes), freeing up staff for other critical tasks.
Cost efficiency
Streamlines the repositioning process to reduce labour expenses while supporting fewer patient complications with a goal to reduce recovery times and lower overall costs
Supporting Healthcare Workers
Minimises manual handling to reduce the risk of injury to caregivers while streamlining care delivery to help mitigate staff burnout and boost morale
Innovative and User-Friendly
A patent-pending solution to a long-standing ICU care challenge, thoughtfully designed for ease of use by healthcare professionals.
